The only thing I can add to this is my personal experience.
When my appendix ruptured four years ago, I couldn't figure out what happened. I thought to myself that it had to be something I had eaten and it was. I had been on the Dr. Atkins' diet two months prior to my illness.
I had never been a red meat eater and suddenly I was eating a lot of steaks. It was very difficult for my body to handle all that red meat.
When Dr. Schulze stated in one of his newsletters that emergency rooms were the most busy the day after Thanksgiving with appendix problems because people gorged themselves with food, I knew then eating all that red meat was something my body could not handle.
