Thanks for the research, but kudzu just gives a false hope as well - it doesn't "cure" alcoholism. NOTHING works until the alcoholic is ready within their heart to quit. Providing an alcoholic with a sense that they can drink like normal people or drink and not get drunk a. doesn't work and b. is at best a well intentioned lie. It simply gives them more and more years out in misery, never fixing the problem, just covering it up. Suffering is what brings an alcoholic to the point of finding a better way. Removing the top layer of suffering by masking it with herbs or pills that may even "appear" to work (but only for a while) not only doesn't cure alcoholism, it gives it even more years to run around and wreck lives.
But, there are some herbs that help in regaining years and years of imbalance AFTER getting sober (not just 'stopping drinking'), but the best is still to regain our sobriety first, our health next, then see about any additional supplements. Dangling "promising looking" herbs and pills in front of a struggling alcoholic is, well, it's cruel. The danger comes from the alcoholic mind over from minutes to months thinking "Oh, I can just take "this" and feel better" to "I can take "this" and won't have any cravings/be cured." Followed sometime thereafter by "I'm taking 'this' so a drink won't bother me." BAM! Welcome back to hell. Yes, our thoughts, if left to their own devices, can and will twist that way - especially when first trying to figure this whole sobriety thing out.
Thanks for your research and enthusiasm, but like in regaining your physical health, masking the symptoms with pills or herbs just doesn't cure the problem.
