Janaki near-
Janaki,
Well, I read your post yesterday and desired to respond, but decided to wait until others had done so since I did not wish to influence you. I understand that we are sometimes easily influenced by others and can experience shared desires and intentions.
Actually I had a very similar experience to yours just last Tuesday. I was, as you say, “doing it” with my partner in bed. I began to see my breath as an exchange with my partner. I too tried to capture my partners breath as my own and also to give of my own breath completely. I soon felt very dizzy. Then the next thing I knew the bed collapsed to the floor! I got up and found my screwdriver to fix it. As I held the screwdriver in my hand I looked down and felt the screwdriver merge with my fingers somehow. I felt symbolically as if I had become at once the tool, or the "doer", as well as the material or the substance which is acted-upon. I felt myself expand energetically and "step through the door" in a sense...although it was more like "through the floor"!
I realized only later that I had experienced what I can only describe as a state or an existence between breaths. Actually I had an insight that there were in fact 3 distinct states between breaths which were described to me as ON, IN and MI. I am still not certain what that means but have several ideas.
From what I have heard, mantras are very powerful indeed and are capable of bringing new awareness. Soham may well indeed be your partner's "true" name. I would, as Schluggell suggests, continue to work with this and try to prove to yourself that it was a "real" experience by repeating it.
As to the nectar in your bellybutton, this, as you know is an important chakra zone. There are many associations with this, one being that the navel is where the individual breaks off from time. Perhaps your partner will discover a sort of divine nectar of immortality from connecting with this spot. You may want to imagine that you have an eye, or perhaps many eyes circling your navel. What do they see?
Your experience feels very familiar to me....brings to mind the expression "is it live or is it Memorex". Hmmmm. It sounds like you are well on the right path. In terms of a visualization of your position on the spiritual path, "young grasshopper" may, in fact prove to be quite effective as a mantra.
Thank you for sharing your heart-felt experience on the forum.
