Re: Invitation on knowledge of ratio omega 3:6:9
I ground four tablespoons of flaxseeds, that's all. Nothing else.
14% of the total oil (35%) contained in flax seed is w6. For the time being, I am affording not to take other sources of w6 (oil or food) because I am in a period where I have to equilibrate my ration w3-w6. According Erasmus, after 6 months of taking w3 rich flaxseed oil, one may switch to a more balanced source of EFA, like Udo's.
You seems to be looking for a mix of seeds, nuts, etc, that would respect 2:1 recommandation. Though the percentages I give you here are not the result of a formal calculation, I would say that if you ground a blend of 90% flaxseed and 10% sesame or sunflower seeds, you would get an acceptable w3-w6 ratio close to 2:1.
But as far as I can understand authors like Erasmus and Simopoulos, if you still eat a standard western style diet, you have too much w6. In western diet, excess of w6 comes mainly from the use of polyinsaturated vegetable fats (sold as oil, margarine, shortening and hidden fats) that contain no or few w3 like Corn oil, Safflower oil, Sunflower oil, Cottonseed oil, Soybean oil, Peanut oil, Sesame oil, Grapeseed oil, etc.. If you are already on the way to cut back w6 sources, for a while you should probably avoid even seeds that contain high percentage of w6 such as sesame and sunflower. Once your ratio w3-w6 is balanced, you should adopt a diet like mediterranean in which w6 is not the main EFA. Traditional Inuit diet would work too but for most of us such a diet would be not only unpalatable but also technicaly impossible.
If your daily diet is close to mediterranean, at your place I wouldn't bother for w6: lack of w6 can become a problem only for those who are NOT suffering of a degenerative illness and stick on a strict Budwig diet for too long time.
For pets, Erasmus says w3-w6 ratio is the same as human being.
