Actually, the basis is that there are three types of interconnecting energies. Male, Female and Neutral. Male is the aggresive energy, female is the accepting energy and the neutral is the sleeping energy. It nullifies overactive surges and keeps things within safe limits. Just like the fulcrum. You move to the left and you can move to the right, then you can also balance in the center.
