Re: ginger and wasabi

Wasabi:
Research Summary and Preliminary Evidence
for Its Role in Reducing Health Risks.

"Over the centuries, the Japanese have believed that eating grated fresh wasabi with raw fish and other foods helped prevent illness. Scientific evidence today confirms they are correct; Scientists have discovered the isothiocyanates in wasabi are antimicrobial. Wasabi not only kills many bacteria’s associated with fish but also kills some forms of E-coli an Staphylococcus"

Here in the US, most often we get the horse radish version; not real wasabi. So, this may be why we hear about wasabi for taste, digestion, or flavor.

In 1597, The English used horseradishit for medicinal purposes. And rightly so because it is believed to be great for digestion. It's okay to Load up your meat or fish with it because your digestive system will go into high gear.
