Any thoughts on this subject?

I was just wondering ... I know many, many atheists. Most of them use Science and evolution as their reasons for their atheism, or they use not being able to see anything outside of what is right in front of them. In other words, show me. I have no problem with atheists. I don't understand it, but to each his own. I can understand their problems with organized religion. I don't believe in organized religion, either. I don't think it's what Jesus had in mind at all. A lot of it doesn't make any sense. But again, to each his own. This is all a curiosity to me. My own father is a STAUNCH atheist, has been all his life, and nothing has happened to change that. He'll have none of it. But he did have an out-of-body experience once when he was sick, where he said he left his body and hovered over the bed and looked down at himself, he said it felt like he was floating. He said it didn't mean anything to him, it can be explained away and that probably many people have things like this happen, but there are explanations for it and it is nothing spiritual. Any thoughts on anything I have said here? My spiritual path is something I have just started, and I don't understand the above. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Thanks.
