Re: Once saved always saved???

This is an age old debate amongst Christians. Folks that have spent their entire lives in the study of God's Word do not agree on this. I have come to the conclusion that this is one of those mysteries God keeps to himself, our finite minds just can't understand all of God's ways and He tells us so.

God speaks of predestination, being chosen, that He will not turn from us and on and on. Then He tells us to abide and there are lots of ifs. These things work together perfectly. My husband and I have studied this debate for over 15 years and clearly see that those that hold firmly to the doctrine that once a person is saved he/she is saved forever leave out or do not clearly take into consideration the verses that tell us to abide, etc. But, those that hold to the doctrine that a person can loose their salvation do not consider fully the chosen, predestination scriptures. This is such a weighty topic and has caused devision which we believe should not be so.

Our conslusion is that both are evident and work perfectly together according to God's will and we refuse to debate with doctrine with brethren for we don't want to divide over this.
