Re: The Rapture
R2R - you said:
"Conviction does not only come by the Holy Spirit throughout the Bible. Look at the OT: the Holy Spirit did not personally and permanently indwell anyone, yet some people were considered "righteous" in God's eyes. How could this be? The answer is that we in the church age are in a very unique situation. No one before or after this particular age was or will be personally and permanently indwelt by the Holy Spirit."
Can you please give me a scripture to support this? Personally, I happen to disagree with this line of thought.
The Holy Spirit existed from the beginning and was active in the earth from the beginning.
"In the beginning...the earth was upon the face of the deep. And the SPIRIT of God moved..." Genesis 1
And the Holy Spirit was active in the lives of men from the beginning.
"And the Lord said, My SPIRIT shall not always strive with man..." Genesis 6
And the Holy Spirit indwelt God's people from the beginning.
"And Pharaoh said unto his servants, Can we find such a one as this is, a man in whom the SPIRIT of God is?" Genesis 41
And the Lord spake to Moses saying, See, I have called by name Bezaleel, the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah: And I have filled him with the SPIRIT of God..." Exodus 31
