Good News For Israel
Eileen,
I believe you are in good company if you are studying with a group of Messianic Jews. I am so thankful you are worshiping where the Gospel of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is proclaimed. I know how difficult it can be to find a good church today. In far too many churches, the peripheral issues are threatening to crowd out the Gospel message itself. I rest assured that you will 'test all things' with the Word of God.
I am in full agreement with you that our churches must get back to a Biblical understanding of the Jewish roots of our faith. Be sure to check out the site linked below for some good information from a Christian perspective. I’ve posted this before -- I’m not sure if you know about it.
We are commanded to pray for the Jews:
>>Pray for the peace of Jerusalem... Psalms 122:6<<
>>I have great sorrow and unceasing anguish in my heart. For I could wish that I myself were cursed and cut off from Christ for the sake of my brothers, those of my own race, the people of Israel. Theirs is the adoption as sons; theirs the divine glory, the covenants, the receiving of the law, the temple worship and the promises. Theirs are the patriarchs, and from them is traced the human ancestry of Christ, who is God over all, forever praised! Amen. Romans 9:2-5<<
>>Brothers, my heart's desire and prayer to God for the Israelites is that they may be saved. For I can testify about them that they are zealous for God, but their zeal is not based on knowledge. Since they did not know the righteousness that comes from God and sought to establish their own, they did not submit to God's righteousness. Christ is the end of the law so that there may be righteousness for everyone who believes. Romans 10:1-4<<
The Word of God is clear, we must never forget our Jewish roots. We must pray for the salvation of all the unsaved, including the those Jews who have not received Christ as Lord and Savior. I will pray for you and your congregation.
I have much to say to you. For now, know that I am keeping you in my prayers.
May God bless you, keep you, and make His Face to shine upon you my sister in Christ!
