Re: Advice for constipation/Biochemists

Hi Guys,

Don't wanna stir up trouble but felt I just had to chime in. I'm fairly new to CureZone, (although I've been lurking for a few weeks) and I am a biochemist too. I work in a big, ivy-league medical school and have a few first author papers in respectable journals etc etc blah blah. Thing is, in my experience, biochemists don't usually know much about how a whole human body works or how to maintain good health. (With all due respect, Richard). I don't know why that is. I do know that we still have very much to learn.

One of the people I work with is an incredibly famous Nobel prize winning biochemist, an absolutely brilliant guy, and I watch him down Diet Coke all day long and eat potato chips. Now, potato chips, ok, but aspartame?

I don't want to get into the specifics of this current debate; both parties have some reasonably good points. I will say though, that the "science" behind a salt water flush is that the EXACT salt/water ratio used supposedly gives the water the same specific gravity as blood, so it should, in theory, exert no osmotic effect. I don't know if this is scientifically sound or not... every sea-salt would in theory give a slightly different sp. gravity. I do know that one should should probably follow the instructions given (by Jensen was it?) PRECISELY. I did try it twice, the first time it did make me go, but the second time it didn't. Don't know why.

I want to add that coming to curezone and implementing some of the suggestions on the site has resulted in a more positive effect on my health than seeing a whole slew of doctors ever did...

I always think of Linus Pauling, who lived to the age of 94 and won two Nobel Prizes (Chemistry and Peace), being ridiculed by the scientific community for touting the benefits of Vitamin C back in the 70's. Everyone thought he was nuts (many still do). Paradigm shifts usually meet with incredible resistance, just ask galileo. Anyhow, just had to chime in. Sorry to waste everyone's time with a long boring post. Thanks to everyone for such a lively and informative debate.
