Re: Advice for constipation sufferers

Hello and welcome to the forum! :) Your concern is understandable as much of what you heard was taken out of context, and Sassy did not tell us that she had, up until the point of her constipation, been having regular BMs. But I'm rather dismayed that you immediately took a negative and defensive stance before researching further.

If you'll read my bowel management notes, you'll see that I already recommend what you have recommended, and I'd like to respond to your points too.

>Saltwater flush. I am amazed that people should be told to do >this and not just as a one-off but regularly. Are you all >unaware that dehydration from drinking seawater is the prime >cause of death among illegal immigrants who arrive in boats?

You cannot compare these two. The immigrants are drinking NO water in addition to the ocean water. They are dehydrated because of the fact that ocean water is too salty to hydrate anyone, it flushes right through you. That is why we do salt water flushes - so that the water just passes right through you, acting like an enema for the entire digestive tract. This is a temporary flush, and afterwards, all water drunk from then on is absorbed quite as usual.

>psyllium is a near 100% soluble fibre, capable of absorbing 40 >times its own weight in water. That means it can easily absorb >almost all the water in the colon, thus reducing peristalsis.

It is BECAUSE psyllium is soluble that we recommend it, and we recommend taking only one tsp to one tablespoon with 16 ounces of water, so that it is properly hydrated. At the same time, we reccommend drinking half the body's weight in ounces. We find that psyllium never gets 'stuck' and comes out very very loose. Try it before you pan it. You'll see.

>Firstly, constipation has many causes, one of which can be a >twisted bowel. Imagine the effect of expanded psyllium on that!

How else do you propose that anyone smooth out the strictures and balloons of a misshapen colon? Exercise with fiber is the only way. What, would you prefer people have surgery?

>Enemas. How can anyone talk about the importance of peristalsis >and then tell someone its OK to do an enema every day? How is >that going to help train the bowel to behave as it should?

Having a colon flushed with water induces a strengthening peristaltic action, not the weakening kind induced by laxatives. When I was healing from systemic candidiasis, I did enemas daily and never experienced a reduction in colon health. Indeed, I only ever improved with time. Again, please do more research or try it yourself before you judge. Here you will find thousands of members who have restored vital health using these methods.
