Thanks for the information...

I'm not totally starving myself, and I asked about electrolytes specifically because I want to be aware of these things. I'm not just completely depriving myself of all food for an indefinite amount of time. I'm doing periodic fasts, along with moderate to intense exercise, and when I do consume, eating raw fruits and vegetables, but this is only going to last for 2 months, and after that, I plan to eat upward of 1,000 calories a day (mostly raw), and continue with my exercise. I realize that this current plan is not healthy, but I am doing it regardless, and I'm trying to do it in the most sensible way that I can. I've invested a lot in this event and I am doing it to win, so if I were to get all the calories I'd need in a day, along with ingesting all the proper minerals and vitamins, the weight/size loss I would need would be impossible.

I know it's my own fault for waiting so long to do this, and believe me, I'm kicking myself for letting it get to the point where I'm potentially damaging my body in order to look good. I know how dumb it is. I'm actually pretty health-conscious otherwise and want more than anything to have optimal health. I don't want cancer, or osteoporosis, or diabetes, all of which I have at one time or another put myself at eventual risk for. I'm hoping that after this is over, I can have the discipline to take care of my body, and I have read enough to know that I can reverse any damage that I do to myself by short term, severe calorie restriction.

Many of the posters on this forum have eating disorders, or "food issues," and come here for support, and are trying to be as healthy as they can, knowing also the risks they are putting themselves at. Several regulars on here know quite a lot about what deficiencies they have and what can result from anorexia, and they really don't need to be lectured. I'm sure most people on here (myself included) get a lot of lectures in their daily lives as it is, and I'm also certain that no one on here wants to have dangerous compulsions, but that's not something that can be gotten rid of easily. It takes a long time to get over an eating disorder, and in the meantime, everyone needs a friend who understands what they are going through, who won't judge or lecture them, and who can help them be as safe as possible until they are ready to try and break the cycle.

It's like outlawing abortion or protesting passing condoms out to teens. It won't make the problem go away, but if people don't have the resources they need, the dangers will be compounded exponentially. I really appreciate everyone who takes the time to post on here, so violetgrace, this message is not solely directed at you. Your comments weren't that bad compared to others I've seen and heard. I'm just venting a little, and would also like to clarify my own position. I hope I haven't offended anyone. Thank you again for responding.
