Re: Puffy face & Candida???
>About how long until most people feel and look healthy again (if they are faithful to the diet)?
Hi, Rachel, from what I've read it's normally recommended to stick to the diet for at least 3 months and usually longer eg 6 months or a year or longer. Of course it will depend on individual factors and the reasons underlying the candida.
>I had a
food intolerance test done last month (Great Smokies Lab IgE & IgG). It showed NO significant immune response to any of the foods I regulary eat (or dont eat for that matter). I was shocked.
That's interesting. I've never had any tests done with GS so don't know how accurate they are....though I presume they are fairly accurate! Does 'no significant immune response' mean there was a slight response?? I suppose that's irrelevant really!
>If I have systemic Candida shouldnt I have Leaky Gut and therefore shouldn't I have some food intolerance?
Not necessarily. I don't think everyone with candida has leaky gut severe enough to cause
food allergies though a lot do due to candida damaging the gut lining and the nutritional deficiencies that come with that or precipitate it.
>Could my reactions to food have been solely caused by the yeasts being fed and releasing toxins?
Yes I think so.
>I wondered about eggs because I have always eaten them often but they were negative in the test. I'm still eating lots of eggs and I don't notice any reactions. How would I know for sure...or should I just go with the test results?
You would know for sure if you gave them up for a while, say a month or longer, then ate them over a few days and see how you felt. I suppose it is best to try and rotate foods but I think it's very hard to do in practice.
