I had the same puffy face thing as well as hypothyroid symptoms (i.e. cold hands/feet, low energy, etc.) I strongly recommend you read everything you can at http://www.ithyroid.com (not for profit website). The author of the site describes his personal battles with thyroid problems and yeast infections.
Thyroid problems are VERY sensitive to mineral imbalances and these imbalances can cause a host of other problems. For instance, if your copper is out of balance (very common in people with thyroid problems), this also affects your white and red blood cell counts, your HDL cholesterol levels and even you liver enzymes. Lower white blood cell counts make you more apt to develop infections such as candida. Taking medication to boost thyroid function won't help a candida infection because your immunity will remain low due to imbalanced minerals. Get a mineral hair test done, then you'll know for sure what to take. And don't forget that when you start to take something that you are low in, you may feel TERRIBLE for a few days as your body is re-introduced to that mineral. Stick it out, best of luck!
