I agree with you, no diet is a cure-all for everyone, we need to test them and see what works for us individually.
Grog is a great example of Atkins Diet success :)
I had success with it and EXERCISE, I also know many people that had success with it. Maybe it is the increased protein, but most of all it teaches people how to read food labels and what is junk food.
There is also a diet I'm looking to now, similar to Atkins but a little different I will post about it later.
