Originally I replied to this Dr. Schulze position in dr. Schulze Support Forum . As _BOB suggested I put it somewhere else, so I put here cause I couldn't find another more appropriate thread.

Nr. 1 cholesterol. Cholesterol is number one reason why I eat raw organic egg yolk- oops, don't be scared Dr. Schulze , I am still alive and so my arteries. Anyway, dr. gotta to learn about cholesterol, once and for all. It is so irresponsible to blame cholesterol and to scare people even more- and it is absolutely false! 2. Saturated fat. Again, dr. Schulze has to do lots of learning: saturated fat does not cause disease, heart or any other. That was proven way back. Dr., did you know that saturated fat is heart's preferred source of fuel? It is not superfood, it is not glucose, it is not polyunsaturated fat, but saturated fat.
Hmm, maybe dr. confuses that with naturally saturateds fats (butter, coconut oil, etc.) with artificially saturated fats- hydrogenated fats? There is huge difference. Naturally saturated fats have beautiful cis configuration, where hydrogenated ones have trans configuration.
3. High protein doesn not kill and does not cause disease. Of course there is logic to be followed in every dietary choice, but to say directly that it is no. cause of disease totally irresponsible and it is a lie! No doubt in my mind that he knows he is lying, yes dr. Shulze is lying. Then why he is bashing? Because it is a psychological thing- when you are so enthuziastic and later you realize you are wrong in many ways and so many people believed you everything you said (often because he with his herbs cured many diseases and rightly so) it is too much to admit you were wrong.
Dr. Schulze, if you are reading this, listen up: if you publicly admit that you were wrong in many thing about diet, you will be much more honest and you'll gain much respect because of your courage, not in my, but in many's eyes. But I doubt you'll do that anyway.
There is a hyge difference between junk food where is lots of everything: meat, bad cholesterol (meaning heated, LDL is nor bad), bad food combining, little or fruits/veggies; and there is a big difference where you limit sugary foods, sensibly increase protein consumption from meat, fish, etc, where you follow food combining principles and so on. High protein diet does not equal junk diet and is not nr. death cause- it's a lie!

and here you could find 2 things: he died not because of heart disease; at the time of his death his weight was 258lb. Oh, what a good source of speculation about his weight and the fact that he had heart problems in the past. You can easilly irresponsibly conclude your way.
I myself would not recommend Atkins diet to anyone. But not because of cholesterol, saturated fat or animal food. There many minuses: artificial sweeteners, fillers, etc., blaming that all carbs are bad, including hydrogenated fats, way too restrictive carb intake and so on. But I will always admire him because of his heroic efforts to eliminate no. killer from human diet: sugar, esp. that white table sugar, flour also (sugar also, just in a bit longer chains). He barked about that all his life, because he reseached, proved, saw what it does and ran his clinic based on that. He knew that Sugar ruins humna health faster that anything else. We know that too.
Atkins is popular because people loose a lot of weight because of water. When you go on Atkins, esp. first two phases you use up your glucose (blood, liver, muscles) fairly quickly. And one glucose molecule attracts four water molecules; so glucose goes down and automatically water goes down four times faster and that translates the weitght goes down fast. Later on body adapts and turns to fat saying hey, I'll use use for energy, not sugar.
I expected more integrity from dr. Schulze. It is just my humble oppinion.
