Absolutely, BUT you discard it/faith for something closer to YOUR TRUTH.
If a person finds problems with people in a religion/church, then go to another church.
On a personal level we all glean the truth out of religion what we want to believe. Who admits to wanting 'something closer to' a lie. Besides the democrats that is.
<"no moral restraints or consequences" - i believe in a universe with consequences - ie you reap what you sow - but letting go of religion does not mean you let go consequences, it just means you let go of the idea of God as a guy who sits in heaven brewing up a big pot of piss for everyone who dares to defy him.>
Keep in mind this was a discusion about dumping structured religion and keeping faith in God.
If you 'let go of' religion then the idea of God means nothing.
If you 'let go of' religion then welcome to whatever you dream up which then becomes your own religion.
I wonder, without a higher being then who will administer your 'consequences'?
You must be talking about the physical earth.
That's a new idea, does God piss? If not, I wonder where he would get it?
Oh yeah....ZAP!
Don't I?
I do believe you can reject structured religion and retain a belief in God.
What's this retain a universe idea? Just because you proclaim you have no religion your ass is not going to fall off. You will probably retain all that you have and will face the consequences, like you say.
Some people are satisfied with a universe when others inherit all of creation.
Yes, I believe we exist and will face the consequences of our actions.
