After my last post I did a google search on betaine hcl and herpes and found one person that said this

Maybe I have stumbled onto something and the betaine hcl will work just as good as the monolauren. Definitely going to quit the monolauren for a while, while still taking large doses of collagen peptides and betaine hcl, though I will go back on the monolauren at the first hint of an outbreak coming on...
