A few days ago I forgot and took a healthy dose of Collagen Peptides which are very high in arginine and became achy like I was going to come down with a cold sore. As soon as I realized this I took a healthy dose of monolaurin and it seemed to subside really well.
Anyway I got to wondering if there might be any value to mixing the two together and if maybe the arginine in the collagen might attract the herpes virus and get the monolaurin to kill it better than just taking monolaurin alone; similar to the way ants avoid rat poison but will gobble it up readily when it is mixed with sugar.
Has anybody ever tried this; or am I going to be the first? Seems I have to heat the monolaurin to get it to dissolve and then add the collagen peptides after it has cooled a bit. It tastes pretty bad. I'm still trying to nail down how much to experiment with. One gram of monolaurin per tablespoon of collagen peptides seems a little strong so I doubled the amount of collagen peptides today.
I hope this works! I would really like to be able to take Collagen. It is supposed to be very good for you, especially for athletes; and I've never been able to take very much of it without getting a cold sore outbreak!
