Well don't forget scripture that says to chop off your hand or pluck out your eye if it offends. You do realize that your hand/eye offends all the time, right? You can literally cut/pluck it to try and stop it, but you know full well your other hand is going to need the same treatment in time.
How much chopping can we handle until there is nothing left to chop off? It's never ending and we will find no rest. Jesus gave good advise to let Him take our burdens.
This is no open door to sin. We are to try, with the help of the Holy Spirit to not sin. To not lust after money or anything that would come before our love of the Father. He teaches us how to deal rightfully with others, to be wise with the gifts He has given us. But there would be no rest without His offer of His Son and the burdens He placed on Himself. We would chop/pluck ourselves into oblivion.
