If you live in USA there is only one hospital that does it now and it's the Colorado Childrens Hospital. Contact them and tell them you want to get tested. It is a bit of a process as you do need a doctors referral/request, it is not covered by insurance too. You can also google tmau testing in the USA and it should give you information on that hospital. I recently got the paperwork needed to process testing but it seems hard. You have to have to not only have a doctor that will request the testing but they have to be willing to get billed and you pay them back as the Colorado hospital does not bill people and only can bill the doctor requesting, luckily my doctor agreed to it. I did leave her a check as good will but most doctors I would guess would have a problem with that. The doctor also has to send a request for waiver of testing in NYC since that is where i live and the laboratory is in Colorado, you will have to fill out the paperwork for the waiver and your doc has to provide his info and fax it to the state dept health that you live in. Once you have the waiver and the test request paperwork from your doctor you then have to find materials for your testing which is urine bottle and packing (freezer type medical shipping box, dry ice for icebox) for the urine to be sent frozen to the lab overnight -the overnight shipping from NY was very expensive as well but it HAS to be sent that way to keep the urine from ruining before they can test it. This all seems like an enormous amount of work and alot of figuring it out but to me, it is worth it to get peace of mind. If i have tmau, i'd rather know so i can stay away from the choline foods that is causing it. I've been living such an isolated life for so long that its' depressive and stress/anxiety ridden to have to socialize, go to work, etc... I'm hoping its just leaky gut/candida. I did go on a strict Salad/organic chicken, Celery juice diet for a week, 3 weeks ago and i have to say i did see a difference in that i could actually smell, my nose seem to not be inflamed and for the first time in a long time i could smell around me. I also felt healthier, although i did feel deprived of all the foods i love to eat, it was very very hard but worth it. After my allergy testing and tmau testing, i plan to go back to eating better and doing an Elimination Diet once i know what i'm allergic too.
