Questions answered regarding Tapeworm, Brain Parasite.
Hello,
It does help to feel you're not alone in this. I have two theories on how I could've caught this parasite.
A little background info,...I had two medical procedures last year and did not fully recover until April. I've always been very health conscious. Everyday this year up until I became infected with this I had a salad for dinner. I live in NYC, there are produce markets that import fruits and vegetables from all across the country and I'm sure outlying islands where
parasites are endemic. I cleaned my veggies as most do, cold water rinse,...if green leafy veggies say 'triple washed' on the package I wouldn't wash again. In early June After seeing a clump of roundworms that looked like spaghetti come out of me after doing an enema (I flushed it, still kicking myself) I saw my doctor who was thinking I'd acquired Rat Lungworm, since there are cases popping up more rapidly in the US. Little did I know that worm is only visible through microscope, not at all the worm I saw in my toilet. I had a CT Scan in the ER a month ago, the doctor did not medicate me, but did say, 'I don't know why your doctor thinks you have the Rat Lungworm, those are tiny, you don't have those. Follow up with Infectious.'
The squiggling I feel on my brain, not only my scalp is not a small worm. I have seen the diameter of the worms on my scalp while brushing my hair. My hair moves like there's a breeze, but it's the worms moving under my scalp. There are a lot more details I could share but this is getting lengthy.
I had a brain MRI on Sunday, seeing a really good Neurologist who's had experience with
parasites and even himself was infected with Malaria. (the MRI machine scared the worms, I had heart pains, had to lay still, they were going berserk) Hoping the worms will be visible so I can get treatment. I have not been able to get a positive stool sample yet. They are locked up in my stomach and small intestine and will not come out. I'm taking an herbal remedy called "ParaSmart", the migrating keeps me awake at night.
(My answers follow each question.)
1. Do you live in the city, country or suburbs? Brooklyn, NY
2. Are you the only one in your household who has this? I live in a brownstone, I share the bathroom with one person. I don't know if they have it.
3. Do you or did you have pets? Dogs, cats, hamsters, rabbits, horses? No, but I have petted many.
4. Are you one of those people who gets bit by bugs more often than others?...yes.
5. Do you have or use down comforters, pillows, coats or vests? ...yes, Down comforter, down coat.. haven't used since April, became infected in May, worms first visible before being symptomatic in early June
6. Do you have symptoms just on your scalp or elsewhere too? I was told the brain is the only area of the body with no nerves to feel. Well, I feel the crawling and biting on my brain, pains behind eyes, crawling behind nose, eardrum pains,...crawling sensation/pain down back, neck, chest,...heart pain, had abnormal EKG after feeling them in heart for 2 days. Crawling under foot, pain in left ankle.
7. Is your home carpeted? No, allergic to dust. Hardwood floors
8. Has anyone diagnosed what you have? ..I've had 3 ER visits, preliminary diagnosis "Tapeworm", without positive stool species isn't identified. I've seen Infectious Disease doctors, and Neurologist...Infectious Disease won't medicate me until positive stool sample. I've taken 4 Ivermectin in ER without conclusive diagnosis, only my word,...7 days of Albenza 2x200mg ,..no one will medicate me. Neurologist has separate clinic, not affiliated with my hospital. I am hoping he will help me, I'll know in a week or so.
