The Bible does indeed provide the answer, as one might expect. Tomi has already addressed some of the relevant material, but of course there is always more.

I hope to expand on the topic sometime soon. In the meantime, I'll post my own pastor's thoughts later tonite. He has a very interesting take on the subject that would.never have occurred to me, which just goes to show that there is most likely no single answer to this question. 

It also demonstrates the truth of the old adage (slightly adapted) that many heads are better than one (or two).
