The only medication available is doxycycline ( an Antibiotic ) that kills the adult worms by killing the Wolbachia bacteria on which the adult worms depend and is often not very effective. However, there can be serious, even deadly side effects. A zapper would probably be much safer, faster, and more effective. No studies on this? wonder why?
