If you hit a nail with a hammer but do not hit it the right way, you are not likely to drive it in very well.

So, yes, it does depend a lot on proper usage of the tools that you have. If you do not get that, sorry. Kind of like trying to tighten a Phillips head screw with a flat bladed screwdriver.
