Re: Dimmitrol DEC - Mattk?

Wow. Apparently, Dimmitrol is the first option for heart worm prevention in Australia.

I bought a bottle of 100 (200mg) tablets for $15.00 AU. plus postage from vet products direct......all one word.....Sydney Australia.

I am so glad I inadvertently helped you.

All of the literature I have read stresses to not use Dimmitrol first up in any parasite infection, not until the load has been significantly reduced. Also, in oz they say to get the dogs tested for the presence of heart worm to make sure there is no massive die-off.

If that was not applicable I would start with a low dose.

Some WHO (world health) papers have said it is so efficient at killing filarial worms that it should not be used first up until some of the load has been killed off with another wormer, as the immediate die-off itch from the dead parasites is maddening.

Squiggles for your doggies.
