Re: New here, a few questions about my fast. I'm on day 6
I fasted for an anxiety disorder and it certainly almost if not cured it for that period of time. It was a good 6 months or so but I gave in to my cravings at the end, relapsed and my problems came back which I still deal with now. I think with the
Water Fast you'd probably have to slowly change your diet after you finish it, and make convictions towards healthy eating which I couldn't unfortunately.
My fast consisted mostly of a small meal in the morning, and water throughout the day. Maybe a little juice sometimes in the middle of the day. I lost 50 pounds, and my panic attacks, anxiety, and
Depression went away towards the latter months. The hard part was not submitting to those cravings, the temptations for unhealthy eating are all around us its hard to ignore.
I guess my advice would be not to repeat my mistakes, the hardest part is resisting the cravings because in the beginning they are bad. Once you get over the beginning it is easier, but still hard in a way because its easy to slip up again being complacent. Fasting requires a discipline, a lifestyle choice to healthy eating afterwards. So I'd say find another vice to replace cravings, something healthy maybe as you said volunteering, if that makes you happy. I may try it again one day, but right now I'm getting some benefits with
Iodine and learning more about that detox method.
One caveat is I didn't do it on anti depressant medication, I'm not sure how that will affect you as those pharmaceuticals work on the pleasure chemicals in the brain. Fasting resets those chemicals to a lower baseline, and those pills increase those pleasure chemicals, so your results may vary.
