Re: Throat Constriction
Well, short of growing your own, I'm afraid some crap will always be in things. I personally just weight the benefits against the possible problems and live with the fact that if it helps me more than hurts, I'm good. :) Ideally Dr Clark rather jokingly said we should just move to a pristine desert Island for optimal health. She's probably right, but unfortunately I can't just walk away from life in the real world.
There are always risks and personally I've not found the prepackaged herbs to provide much risk--although, like you, I'd much rather avoid such things. For the more common ones like echinacea and goldenseal root they often will have it in loose leaf form--at least they used to, so that might be a way to avoid the capsule filler stuff. I just can't stand the taste.
And I always take each herb separately, never in a combo type pill. They do different things and if you need one, you usually don't need the other, so it's not only a waste of money, but it's weaker and both will stop helping if you use them too long (you get desensitized for a week or two if you use them straight for longer than a couple weeks), and I want to make sure which ever one I'm not using is still going to work for me, if I need it later. I use nature's way olive leaf extract---but there might be a tea form of that as well. Tinctures, you still have to taste so I don't use them either, so I can't say how well they work.
I agree with your assessment of FaceBook--it just has a wide reach, and I could help lots of folks there. But here is actually better with it's healing focus--and yah, I do confess to being addicted to some of the games. *lol* And people are very brainwashed--it actually overrides common sense it seems! Hence the 'don't care' attitude to things they really should care about!
