Re: Final Thoughts on my being cured of Candida

I follow Chris Kresser on the web and have the greatest respect for him. Although he is the only person to say that ketosis from low carb diets will actually promote the growth of candida, I believe it. It matches my experience. I was on the "anti-candida diet" and was taking antifungals and probiotics religiously for a couple of YEARS and although my candida was in check, it never went away. I do know this about Chris Kresser and his advice for candida sufferers: AVOID ALL GRAINS AND LEGUMES. These are complex carbohydrates which won't be broken down into sugars until they reach the colon where most of the yeast is (thereby feeding it). I listened to his webinar about leaky gut and dysbiosis and when talking about candida he said that monosaccharides are safe. That means glucose (dextrose) and fructose. You can buy dextrose from body building websites:

I just don't want people to get the idea that because ketosis has a negative side effect that they can go out and eat anything. And I'm sure if Chris were asked, he would tell you to only eat small amounts of glucose, not as much as you want.
