Re: use of elisa ascaris, strongyloides, roundworm test
Ascaris ELISA.
There about 150 tests, all shapes, sizes, dozens of labs. Few standardized tests. Each lab does their process that they invented and eventually had approved. In this way they pay no royalty to another company. The cost of some tests is 2 cents material and 5 minutes time.
ELISA stick test is a 2 dollar test used in the field to say yea or nay.
ELISA hospital test is thr 300 dollar blood test sent to a outside lab, to measure an assay, a calibrated test against a norm or standard, where the data is presented in terms of a threshold, percentile, and measurement.
They actually measure the level using a minimum of two tests, and test 2 times to give you a number.
While that does not mean much to many of us, it is a precise way to determine the body is generating a response.
The funny thing is that the response could be from other ascarid specis.
The threshold is set high, there are no false positives, or very few.
A test positive means you have ... at least one roundworm specis.
A test positive does not mean you have ascaris, since the test cannot say that.
The actual identity of
Ascaris means one of 3 or 4 specis.
When a foot long worm goes behind your throat, behind your eye, and down your ear canal, you will not need a doctor or a test to tell yourself what you have.
The test is useful to silence your spouse, doctor, insurance company.
Several specis can cause lung, heart, small intestine disease.
Treating promply, powerfully, and completely is essential.
Once you have a proof positive test, irreguardless of the test specis accuracy or specis identity, you can use a repeat test every year to verify you are
parasite free.
After 3 or 5 years if you are negative, you can relax.
That is the use of the test.
PCR testing would be better, but it may be another 50 or 100 years before insurance companies demand them.
