Excellent advice you got there from Soulsurvivor.
Especially this :
When you feel the fear becoming overwhelming, practice the technique of "Getting Into The Now" which is to literally tell yourself where your left hand is resting, then the right hand, then recognizing the air current, the temperature, and everything that you see, physically feel, smell, taste, and hear until you begin to feel more calm.

There is a similar type of Meditation called "Mindfullness" where you more or less also do the above: its all about "Getting into the NOW". My 2 cents would be to try doing this every day - time permitting twice a day. There are some awesome YouTube Videos that would help you to learn this method.

Suffering is sometimes "essential" for us to awaken and take our mental health into our own hands. My deepest sympathy and best wishes for a healthy awakening!
