Re: concur

That makes a lot more sense than Iodine toxicity. It is your high selenium levels that are dangerous. Nobody should ever take more than 1200 MICROgrams of Selenium per day, and if you have a diet that is high in selenium (brazil nuts, brewers yeast, and the like), you should not even take that much, because taking over 1200 mcg of selenium per day results in SELENIUM Toxicity. Selenium toxicity will make your hair fall, your nails brittle and your skin dry. And those are just the physical symptoms. I do not have the emotional/mental symptoms memorized. And they probably vary from person to person. I think this forum should have a large warning sign that says NEVER take more than 1200 mcgs of selenium per day, or at the very least~ do so at your own risk!!!

I also wonder if a lot of people who are worried about Hashimotos because of falling hair are actually taking too much selenium. One one had people are taking Iodine by the gram and it would be easy for them to get confused and do the same with selenium…But selenium builds up in the system and stays. Iodine does not. That is why you can take so much more Iodine without harming yourself. Selenium is another matter entirely.

Have you looked into methods of chelating selenium or studied selenium toxicity???
