Re: 16 year old dog- kidney problems / arthritis, recent medicine change - bad.

Hello Mark, sorry for the problems you have, and dont know when this article was written, but I can say that we took our 15 pound rat terrier to the vet. He suggested proin as well, and the first day, I checked the internet it said that that proin is a killer medicine. I asked the vet why he prescribed it, and he said that's what works best from his experience, even after telling him the horror stories over the internet, he said you cant rely on the internet. So agreed and tried it, so the first day I noticed my dog was loosing her balance, and was despondent and dispirited. I immediately called the vet and stopped giving her that stuff proin. He now suggests waiting a week and see if she improves, she improved back to normal the next day. Now were going to try giving her incurin, its suppose to be better than the proin and des. I don't know why the vet didn't prescribe this in the first place. Were going to pick it up on Monday, hope it works.
