Re: 16 year old dog- kidney problems / arthritis, recent medicine change - bad.

Hi, well I went home for alittle and asked if she was moving her bowels, *I know several days ago (several days before I made my original post) she didnt go in several days- but she did go yesterday, and also she went again this morning. Also this morning she was able to walk when we took her outside (apposed to just falling over or laying down) and she seamed to have a much better appatite. Several days ago she was hardly eating at all- she hasent finished an entire meal in maybe a week or so she only eats partial, if any of it- but today she ate all the yougert and some carrots and she acted like she was still hungry (my mother didnt give her anything else because we dont want her to get sick) but will give her more food later.

I will also check about the SNAP 4 test as Chicory sugested (thanks for the info) but she seems alot better then she did several days ago- I am still blaming that medicine that was used to controll her frequent urinating, as to causing the recent problems - the vet said he wouldnt think it would do that because its a relitavley low dose, but I think within the month that she was on it her metabolism changed and possably her body couldnt absorb it as well, and since they were giving her the dose 2x a day, finally its effects were noticed (seizures and loss of apetite). The vet did agree that since shes doing better since I took her off that medication its good to keep her off it just incase (the meds to controll her frequent urinating that is).

Thanks for the support, will post an update if anything new is learned.
