Re: For Those Reading This Thread
I have to agree with you Wired that the 80/10/10 fruitarian/greens diet is especially drastic and will compromise many people...especially if chronically ill.
I tried fruitarian 80/10/10 for a while and my health nose-dived. I had been raw vegan before that so it wasn't like i went from a SAD diet and jumped to 80/10/10 RFV.
I have a close friend on it for 5+yrs who now has type 2 diabetes through it.
He started developing symptoms of high blood
Sugar - which i am familiar with due to having 2 family members having type 1 and 2 diabetes.
I suggested he monitor his blood so he did and an hour after a fruit meal he was over 12 mmol/l. Way too high. Normal is around range of 5-8.
I suggested that maybe the extremely high consumption of so much glucose, fructose and sucrose was actually comprimising pancreatic function.
He didn't like hearing that. He said Doug says...yeah you know the rest - people cure EVERYTHING with this diet.
Over a year later he still has these symptoms of high blood sugar, and he won't change the diet to see if he can control his blood
Sugar better...because some guy who calls himself a doctor when he's a chiropractor, say's this diet cures everything.
I'm sick of these 'cure all' claims. It illustrates the ignorance of the claimant. We are all very different with extremely different physiological functioning.
That fact needs to be recognised by anyone who claims that one method will cure everyone of all ailments.
All methods are worth trying, but if you feel worse than ever, move on, try something else - don't become a fanatic of some obscure person who has convinced you that diet WILL cure you.
Listen to your body, not some stranger!
