Re: Are you already overstimulated?
I kind of thought that I have heard some other people support this same theory but I have never read much of what Dr. Wilson and Dr. Lam wrote. I know I really should but I have never really trusted any of these adrenal fatigue 'experts' so I never bothered to read much of what they wrote. At any rate, if they are saying the same thing as me then why is everyone on the Adrenal Fatigue forum trying to fix their problem by further stimulating their system? Ashwagandha certainly is a nerve tonic and can help to calm a restless mind but at the same time it is one of the most powerful natural herbal stimulants you can find. As I study ayurveda, this is actually how it is used to stimulate the body and increase energy when energy is low. However, for adrenal fatigue, when everything is already in overdrive, the last thing you want is further stimulation. I have also read a bunch of posts of people using glandulars, again from my understanding trying to stimulate the endocrine system even more when it is already overstimulated. Then there is diet. It seems like most people on here are following a somewhat low-carb diet, emphasizing meats and fats. Again this is a stimulating diet, red meat is one of the most stimulating foods for the body, other meats are also very stimulating. Cooked grains and fruit are the opposite of stimulating, they calm and relax the whole system, yet most 'experts' say to avoid them. This is all very confusing to me, especially if people already understand if they are over-stimulated, why are they doing everything to further stimulate the body? I have read a few posts of people that do seem like they are trying to calm the body and mind instead of further stimulate it, but these seem few and far between. Unfortunately, I don't have time right now to research adrenal fatigue in depth, as all my free time is being allocated to Ayurveda, but I have been using myself for experimentation and I feel like I am starting to understand all of this at least on a conceptual level.
Tenacious, can't reply directly to your post, so adding something onto this one. My point about taking the wrong supplements, and eating the wrong foods is not that we should have avoided them in the past but to stop making the mistakes in the present and try to finally get ourselves on the right path. It can be very difficult though as our past mistakes make it very difficult to do the right thing now. Glad you are getting off of the prescriptions, they are pure poison, best of luck with that.
