Are you already overstimulated?
I am of the belief that adrenal fatigue can be caused by being under-stimulated or being over-stimulated. How could adrenal fatigue be caused by over-stimulation? Well it's currently just a theory that I'm formulating, based a lot on what I am learning from Ayurveda, but my thinking is that the Thylamus-pituitary-thyroid-adrenal axis is in a state of constant over-stimulation for a long period of time and eventually one or more of these endocrine glands starts to produce less of the hormones our body needs to function. A better word for this would probably be adrenal burnout which I have heard some people mention before. I believe that a lot of people on this forum if not the majority of people on this forum are in this position, but this is just a guess and I could be completely wrong about this. I believe that this would result in low cortisol levels, why? Because even though extremely stimulated, the adrenals cease functioning correctly and hence do not produce cortisol properly. Again, this is just a theory, I have no scientific evidence to back it up, just my own experience and what I am learning in Ayurveda. Someone in this position, although in the short run may feel some benefit from stimulating herbs (ashwagandha, gotu kola, etc.) and stimulating foods like meat, in the long term this will only be stimulated the adrenals more, when they are already overstimulated.
Anyone have any thoughts on this? Anyone feel like they are in this position, that is overstimulated?
