Hope4myadrenals

Wow your DHEA level is just like mine then!
Strangely enough I have no anxiety and my sleep is ok - I know my AF symptoms are different from others and I thought it might be because DHEA level is low.

DHEA is thought to be only a precursor to all the reproductive hormones but as I found out it has a lot of functions on its own especially in the brain.
All of these hormones (pregnenolone, progesterone, DHEA) are a class of so called neuro steroids and it's important to have enough of them. But because the body uses all the cholesterol to make cortisol other hormones are temporarily forgotten.

My cortisol is beautiful but I feel awful and it makes me wonder if because I have virtually no DHEA. It is probably due to low aldosterone as well because of the pregnenolone steal/cortisol shunt. I have a major physiological stressor sabotaging my progress - benzo withdrawal - and until this is gone my body will only make cortisol I think.

I read recently that DHEA and neurotransmitters like norepinephrine and dopamine are interrelated somehow which makes a lot of sense to me because deficiency of NE/DA is another issue for me.

All the joints in my body are popping lately and are hurting really bad. Could this be because of the DHEA deficiency?

How are your results with pregnenolone? I want to try it too but I'm afraid that it will be used to manufacture cortisol and not DHEA and aldosterone because benzo WD creates a constant demand for more cortisol - it's comparable to having a very stressful event in smb's life that never stops causing tremendous stress on the body.

I don't work with any doctor at the moment because of some insurance complications, so I have to rely on the minds of people on this forum and my own broken brain:)
