Re: Derm tommorow... so it seems the oral antibiotics not the desonide is what helped.
So I saw the derm today... and the swab results came back as negative for yeast and bacteria, he did not feel a biopsy was necessary.
He said he believes this is an inflammatory reaction to the peel and his advice was that I need to leave it alone. I manually debrided the scabs in the shower for new years and he feels that my worsening condition (from the better state after treatment) had to do with this rather than me being off the antibiotic. I have to say... every time I picked at my lips at all, they've gotten worse. He does not think the redness beside my mouth is angular cheilititis.
He said he has seen this before (esp in the field of cosmetic dermatology), and that it he has seen it go away. He said the reason people who get it for years in cases like mine (not people who have some underlying disease), is because they compulsively pick at it and develop a chronic condition.
He said he believes it will go away in weeks if I follow his instructions.
1. Vaseline to lips that have been wet with water 5 times a day.
2. Desonide to lips that have been wet 2 times a day.
3. No picking at all.
