Our good flora outnumbers our cells 10 to 1...so they estimate that anyways. So with that in mind it is our good flora which inhibits the candida and keeps it from coming back. Mercury/heavy metals is toxic to all cells including candida. Getting rid of mercury/heavy metals might increase the efficiency of our immune system/improve our overall health but it is not going to replace/rebalance the good flora that was lost through antibiotics/toxins etc... The hardest part of this battle is trying to get candida down to the minimum so that the flora has a chance to repopulate and regain its territory back. The damn candida can multiply so fast its a pain in the a##. The battle becomes extremely difficult when the candida has wiped out nearly all the flora in the GI tract. Then the problem is-- by the time you've killed off a good amount it seems to repopulate that amount right back and in the meantime you get terrible die-off syptoms. So your almost better off trying to "inhibit" it/slow its metabolism down for a while until it gets more under control. Trying to restore and "rebalance" the flora that has been lost can be quite the battle...just ask people that have been battling SIBO for years upon years.
