Deficient...

Another way to view this whole situation is by the man-made creation of corporations, large organizations, and governments. Each want more power and control. Each entity tends to grow and become bloated. To maintain its own existence, it will continue to push for more power, control, and bloat. The individual is lost, while the entity of individuals perpetuates its own existence through any means. Whatever the agenda, it is often for-profit, not in conscious effort to preserve individual health - but a collective existence loosely created in the minds of men/women.

Iodine, with it's potential benefits, does not work alone in a vacuum. Most people do not get enough of all other nutrients from most foods, nor most supplements. Without proper nutrition and bodily function, Iodine can easily do more harm to an impaired body. I've found that synthetics, even most so-called natural or organic supplements tends to cause more damage than good. What corporation would want to produce supplements expensively to cure disease I ask? Isn't it cheaper and easier to manufacture vitamin-like products and sell them at a profit? Many people don't mind spending $10 - $20 on a cheap supplement instead of a $30+ on a better made product. Most people have been so conditioned to visit a supermarket with 80 - 90% shelves packed with processed, nutrientless foods, and conventionally grown produce. Additionally, those same food-like products that have been processed to death contain toxins, pesticides, residues, preservatives , and unlisted garbage that is not required by law to be listed on the label. California's initiative with its Proposition 65 at least forces the Governor to publish annually a list of chemicals known to cause cancer and toxicity. It is an attack on both fronts, poor nutrition and additives/residues that bodies must process. While Iodine is important, deficiency in most nutrients is rampant. Fluoridated water and products keep people complacent, mostly. Most people simply appear to want to live a life with their heads in the sand from what I've witnessed. Some latch on to whatever ideals present themselves and they carry them out without question or thought, ei. law enforcement, medical treatment, religious ideology.

Here's some old news of synthetic vitamins causing problems in studies: http://www.nutrition-clinic.com/documents/naturalsynthetic.pdf

Doesn't IBM have an interesting history with helping Hitler in its rise to fame?

Back to large organizations - once established, they are like infrastructure in place - difficult to change. Imagine a nation of gas powered vehicles suddenly shifted to electric only. Not only are all the gas stations useless real-estate, but auto repair shops suddenly must adapt to the change as well. Many established businesses must adapt too or fail, like oil producers, oil filter producers, engine makers, auto-computer systems, exhaust specialists, etc... Many others have a vested interest in things being EXACTLY the same or for more profit. We are deficient in our ability to change due to the infrastructure controlling the environment. The infrastructure gets bailed out, not the individuals thereof.
