I just happened onto your post, SS. You are clearly a caring, strong, and insightful person. I'm so sorry that you've had to go through this. Your honesty in sharing your situation and the courage you display in dealing with it are inspiring.

What impresses me so much is the way you're facing the cold, hard truth instead of playing ostrich and sticking your head in the sand. Yet you're not letting bitterness take over your life.

I think that we can easily project our hopes and dreams and ideals onto another person and some of us are easily fooled by manipulators who use us for their own purposes.

Another key thing that you mentioned was in the past, feeling that something was not right. This is a reminder to me, to trust that little voice inside, that instinct, that will invariably tell me what is best for me.

Whether or not you ever find a partner worthy of your love, you are clearly, as your Username states, a Soulful Survivor.
