I also believe the device you highlighted in your post can be useful for people who cant smell themselves and have to rely on other people's reacxion to know if they still smell. The funny thing about people's reaction is that when I smell the worst, people don't react at all. It is when I have a mild odor that people react the most. I think the reason for this is that when you smell very, very bad, it is easier for people to tell that there is something majorly wrong somewhere so they get distracted by trying to figure out what's wrong so they don't react negatively. But when you have a mild odor which happens to be fecal, they easily believe that you're a dirty, inconsiderate person that should be treated bad.
