Re: Supplements that feed candida

Thanks for your input aijian.

I'd also add that foods high in sulfur should be a concern as well. I noticed this when I finally resumed eating vegetables last night. I had a bundle of spinach (raw). Spinach has always been a problem for me but my body was craving its nutrients. I wolfed it down in record time! Unfortunately, it had a significant effect on sleep but nowhere as bad as the NAC.

It turns out spinach, while not part of the cruciferous family, is also very high in sulfur. It's also considered goitrogenic. I tried finding if sulfur is a known goitrogen but it isn't documented. Cooking spinach apparently neutralizes the goitrogenic aspect.

Taken from onibasu.com, here's a list of foods high in sulfur:

* turmeric
* artichokes (Jerusalem but not French)
* asparagus
* Beans of all sorts, bean sprouts, soybeans, bean curd/tofu milk, green beans, lentils
- There may be some variability based on type.
* Brassicaceae family of vegetables:
- bok choy, broccoli, brussels sprouts, cabbage, collard greens, cauliflower, daikon, kale, mustard greens, radish, rutabaga/swede, sauerkraut, turnip, etc
* carob
* chives
* chocolate
* coffee
* Dairy from any animal: cheese, milk, cream, sour cream, whey, etc
* eggs
* garlic
* horseradish
* jicama
* leeks
* onions
* peas
* sesame
* soybean: soy milk, soy beans, miso, tempeh, tofu, etc.
- Soy sauce may be tolerated if used in small quantities.
* spirulina
* yeast extract
