Direction comes from the Top down, the profit thing is just a way to enlist the help of the non believers in their scheme. After all money is not the object, it can be printed at will.

BP owns the government so its not about the Billions saved the ploy was the distribution of Cor[e]Exit. In short we can all call BP a bad company even though they been bad outside the "Home of the Brave" for decades. But the entire stunt was only there to allow distribution of CoreXit...the cost of that is immaterial...there is always another TARP...
