It is actually very simple. The old testament is historical in nature. For example the Aramaic word used to describe homosexuality was used by Paul to create the greek word that is used in the new testament. The greek word did not exist, Paul created over 100 new greek terms because there was not an equivalent to the aramaic. We use the Old testament for interpretation of the new.
