Excess zinc - caused my chronic fatigue.
Hi
I went to a specialist doctor and was diagnosed with mild pyroluria. He prescribed me a compounded combination various minerals and 50mg zinc per day. I took this combination for a month and had to quit work because I developed chronic fatigue. I decided to give myself a break from the zinc combo and in a day or so I felt much better. When I looked at my hair mineral analysis before and after the zinc combo I had not raised my zinc levels, but lowered my already low copper levels.
Then I decided to follow the recommendations of the hair test and take 1mg copper every day, along with fish oil, vitamin E, and an adrenal rebuilder. My copper levels didn't really improve much, but by avoiding any zinc supplements and calcium my energy improved and so did my digestion and I gained a healthy amount of weight in 3 months. Since then I have avoided zinc and been much better without it.
On further research I have discovered that excess doses of zinc do deplete copper and give you chronic fatigue. So in conclusion, I advise getting a hair test, and following their recommendations for a 3 month period.
