Re: Candida, mercury, and zinc issues

One can easily argue either way, whether to address Candida or mercury first, so I'm not going to say I'm right and you're wrong. It may well depend on the individual. I think my problems are more Candida than mercury, although it is entirely possible that the Candida problem was caused by mercury.

I do agree that even if I am successful in controlling Candida with an effective antifungal protocol, I will likely relapse unless I rebuild my immunity, and I believe a big part of this is mercury detox. However this may take years if done slowly, as it should. I think I will be able to tolerate this detox process a whole lot better if I have Candida under control.

However I did remove all my Amalgam fillings a couple of months ago, so at least I know in the long term my mercury levels should gradually decline anyway. Some people notice a huge improvement without chelating.

After carefully re-analyzing my daily records, and making allowances for other supplements etc, I have changed my earlier stated view that my sleep has been consistently worse since Amalgam removal. I now estimate it cost me 40 mins/night for the first 3 weeks post removal, 20 mins/night for the next 3 weeks, and now, 9 weeks post removal I think my sleep is on a par to how it was prior to Amalgam removal. Being an optimist by nature, I'm now hoping my sleep (and other mercury related symptoms) will keep improving and I will soon be on the positive side of the ledger!

BTW, I've decided not to take any more zinc until I start detoxing mercury. I just think zinc stirs mercury up too much and I don't want to do that while killing Candida. I also found out the hard way that this is 10x more true with zinc picolinate. Picolinic acid is the body's natural chelator, and I think when taken with zinc it not only increases zinc absorption by the bowel, but mercury as well. In addition to zinc and picolinic acid being heavy metal chelators, zinc increases metallothionein (MT), and MT unbinds mercury, then the picolinic acid assists mercury to be absorbed into the bloodstream. Seems picolinic acid assists absorption of most metal ions, not just zinc. Nasty! Had several sleepless nights before I worked this one out. :)
