Re: Our Australian Elections shows Aussies want the Greens to play a big part in a sustainable environmental future.

The less fossil fuels there are to burn, the more expensive generating power from fossil fuels, will be, this is already happening. It will only get worse, the cost of petrol, will and has , increased. This also puts pressure on our current economy. This is what is happening right now. That is without even mentioning the cost of polluting and destroying the environment for many decades to come, or the cost of climate change, which is already being seen, particularly in rural areas.

Moving to a renewable source of energy will create jobs, (building infrastructure, and manufacturing). It will reduce dependence on fossil fuels, which will mean we are no longer at the mercy of the global oil price. It will mean we have a cleaner environment. It will create business opportunities, as there is a great demand for renewable energy technology and investment in research. People involved in the coal mining and oil industries will have to change jobs, or the jobs they have will change, as these industries decline, perhaps sooner rather than later.

If these polluting industries, were headed by smart people, instead of greedy ones, they would be looking at the long term future of our environment, instead of short term profits for themselves.
